Sphinx Private Equity Management (Sphinx Egypt)

Sphinx Private Equity Management (Sphinx Egypt) is a private equity management company with extensive experience in direct investment in medium-sized companies.

The firm looks to capture high-yield opportunities in emerging markets. Its geographical footprint crosses the Middle East and North African (MENA) region, with a special focus on Egypt.

Sphinx is a Cairo-based Private Equity firm with Assets under management (AUM) of EGP 1.3bn

Sphinx Egypt is a dedicated private equity management company formed by Citadel Capital and Marianne Ghali, an industry veteran who has spearheaded highly successful private equity investments across a number of industries. In 2009, Pharos Holding acquired the private equity firm Sphinx Egypt from Citadel Capital

The partnership leverages the group’s combined network, deal flow and knowledge of regional and Egyptian markets. The group targets investment opportunities from:

  • SME industry roll-ups / consolidation plays.
  • Family-held companies seeking to expand to regional markets.
  • Public-sector companies offered through privatization.
  • Distressed companies in need of restructuring.

The firm targets the acquisition of controlling interests in mid-sized industrial companies with proven management, stable cash flows and strong potential for expansion and exports. The firm has a broad outlook on opportunities, being equally interested in pursuing distressed assets.

Post-acquisition, Sphinx Egypt maintains a close working relationship with its Portfolio Companies, creating value by assisting them with financial engineering and strategic repositioning as well as investment and divestment strategies.
